What does gsm mean?

This refers to the density of the paper.  gsm rating (grammes per square metre) is a guide to how thick the paper feels.
Papers that are more dense and higher weight are better quality and more durable.

What paper weights are available?

We print on a variety of paper weights. For property brochures, the most common are 200gsm, 250gsm, 300gsm or 350gsm.

What finishes are available?

We can laminate with a transparent film to make printed materials more sturdy, sealing the ink and protecting them from wear and tear.

Matt lamination: a soft and glare-free finish. Adds a subtle protective layer to any design.
Gloss lamination: ultra-shiny and vibrant. Perfect to show off colourful designs.
Velvet lamination: luxuriously soft to the touch – non-shine and great to enrich deeper colours.

We can also give documents like business cards an extra special edge with digital foiling.
With 6 different colours to choose from you can easily upgrade your document to something that’ll really get you noticed.

Can you send me samples of different stocks, sizes, weights and finishes?

Of course! Our sample packs include examples of the various different options available.

What are your production times?

Some products are available on a 24hr turnaround. Others may take slightly longer for larger print runs or additional finishes e.g. lamination or binding.

How do I make sure that my images are of print quality?

We advise using high resolution images at 300dpi. If you supply artwork with images that are lower than 300dpi we can’t be held responsible for the quality output.
As we use automated systems it’s not possible to check all artwork.

However, if you are uncertain how your artwork will print our technical support team will be able to check your print files prior to printing contact support@ravensworth.co.uk.

Our in-house design team can create artwork for you and as part of this service we’ll make sure that all images are high resolution before we send to print.

What is bleed and crop marks and how do I add these?

We don’t need crop marks. Bleed is where the artwork set slightly larger than the print area, so the ink runs off the edge of the paper to give a better finish.
We advise a minimum of 3-5mm bleed on all artwork to ensure that you don’t end up with white borders.

How do I add bleed?

It depends on the software you’re using to create artwork. The basic idea is that you need to create artwork where your image is larger than the finished or trimmed size.
